To arrange for the use of a ‘box’ please contact Friends of Colliers Wood on 0115 938 5101 or email secretary@friendsofcollierswood.org.uk
The scheme is designed for youth organisations and schools who require an environmental experience for their members/pupils. This may be linked to a curriculum, or associated with badge work, or just a pleasurable external activity on a Green Flag site.
Family groups may also use the scheme. It is advised that some pre-preparation is undertaken to ensure that all family members benefit.
All of the equipment, including hard copies of the documentation, is enclosed in two large stout sealable plastic boxes with carrying handles. (Pond dipping nets are separately bundled.) These are stored at our on-site container.
Boxes are normally carried directly to the chosen activity area. Preferably, two adults should carry the heavier of the two boxes. If you collect for later use, please ensure that your vehicle has the capacity to fit these boxes in. Box sizes are, one at 760 x 420 x 380mm and one at 480 x 380 x 305mm.
Included are action sheets providing activity structures with follow up work, an introduction for teachers and leaders, safety guidelines, detailed curriculum based activity sheets and a lesson planning grid.
