The Friends are people from the surrounding areas of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire who enjoy being involved in the varied activities that are associated with this local nature reserve, Colliers Wood. Broadly, activities are aimed at encouraging the further use of this young country park for recreation, exercise and entertainment, whilst always maintaining a respect for the ecology that is at the root of its appeal.
Colliers Wood has a sensitive location at the edge of established urban areas. Its intimacy with the adjacent diverse rural landscapes makes it a key location for the aims of Greenwood, Nottinghamshire’s community forest. Friends support these aims by seeking opportunities to expand the permanent green cover and create public access to established rural environments. Equally we aim to enhance the environmental corridors linking these treasured habitats to encourage further migration of species into urban green spaces and domestic gardens.
The Friends welcome everyone as members or visitors. Take time to look through our site; there is a lot to discover.
